Rails to Trails

When you hear the word "recycle," you immediately think of bottles, cans and old newspapers. So, why are we discussing recycling in a bicycling advocacy program? Well, Rails to Trails (from the Community Enhancement Video Series) is about how the resurgence of bicycling has caused the recycling of abandoned property into community amenities. Deserted railroads, power line easements, and river flood plains are converted into greenways and corridors for activities such as biking, walking and skating... just to name a few. These recycled parcels are energizing communities across the country.
